The Underage Drinking Task Force is celebrating “10 years” as an organization that has helped educate and raise awareness in our community of the dangers of underage drinking.

This Tuesday we will honor all our Community Leaders who have protected our youth by “sticking their necks out” and getting involved to change social norms in our community.

“More youth in the United States drink alcohol than smoke tobacco or marijuana, making it the drug most used by American young people”, says Virginia Guy, Director of the Drug Education Council.   “For the last 10 years we have joined our efforts with community leaders, educators and law enforcement to create an awareness in our community about the dangers of alcohol on the undeveloped brain.”

Alcohol use plays a substantial role in all three leading causes of death among youth – unintentional injuries (including motor vehicle fatalities and drowning’s), suicides and homicides.
