FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at approximately 6:00 pm, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office was called to a shooting at the 8300 block of Clairmont Drive South, Semmes. MCSO arrived at the scene to find a female with gunshot wound to the head. Detectives stated her ex-husband, Victor Barnes, shot the victim. 911 received the call by the victim’s children, ages 10 and 14, who witnessed the shooting.
Victor Barnes came to Clairmont Drive and began arguing with his ex-wife. Ms. Barnes was trying to get inside the home when Mr. Barnes shot her with a 12-gauge shotgun in the head. Mr. Barnes then went around to the front of the home firing several shots at the front door. 911 was contacted by one of the children who witnessed the shooting. US Marshalls and MCSO arrested Barnes on East Gulf Terra Drive after he fled the scene of the shooting.
Mr. Barnes has been charged with attempted murder. He was also arrested for an outstanding warrant, Domestic Violence 3rd, with Mobile Police Department.
