The Mobile County Metro Jail is proud to announce the Graduation of Two Inmates, LUKE JASON CUSHMAN-COLE andTHERESA LEE TODD, who have earned their GED.
The GED program began in the Metro Barracks for the women in June 2009. The program was offered to 116 women in the first year and 161 in the second year. Although we had not been approved as a test site until recently, the women were given information and study guides about the GED program. It was the inmate’s responsibility once they were released to take the test.
In October 2010, the GED program began in Metro Jail for the juvenile males. In May of this year the program began for adult males and was approved as a test site for the GED Testing.
On June 15 & 16 two of our inmates successfully completed and passed the program to earn their GED. Many times this is the first step towards a positive future for an inmate.
The Chaplaincy Department of Metro Jail and Goodwill Easter Seals sponsor the GED Program. The best part of the program is that it is NO COST to the taxpayers.
