I want to welcome you to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office web site.

Our goal in re-designing this site was to create a way for you to stay informed, become involved and offer us feed back – all intended to make sure we do the best job possible.

As you move around on the site you’ll notice three areas where you can become involved.

Sign-up for E News, join our volunteer corps or start a county action group in your community. Just a few ways that you can become involved in our work to fight crime in your neighborhood.

We believe strongly that the more you are informed and the more we build partnerships in our communities the better we will be at keeping the bad guys off the street.

We have had a lot going on in the last few months since I took office. Already we have begun re-staffing vacant positions on local drug task forces, we are working hard to identify and arrest internet child predators, and we’ve increased the number of deputies on the street to help reduce response times.

We have started a broader use of technology including expanding less lethal technology in the field and in the jail. I believe strongly that by using the latest in technology we will do a better job in serving the people we are sworn to protect.

Our staff of some 500 personnel are committed to enforcing all laws, deterring criminal activity, improving the quality of life and making Mobile County a safer community. I have deep respect for your concerns and opinions and I encourage your input.

I hope that you will visit our site often and look forward to hearing from each of you.

Thank you,

Sheriff Sam Cochran
